Wonderful glasses
These glasses are beautiful. Everyone at Thanksgiving wanted to drink wine from these -nobody wanted the normal or stemless wine glasses. Even the kids wanted to put their milk and such in them. I saw someone say that these are fragile, Well of course they are! They are super thin glass wine glasses. By definition they are going to be fragile. However, they are not overly fragile, just don't drop or bang em around in a sink full of plates and such. We did plenty of "cheers" on Thanksgiving and not a single glass was broken. I love love love these.

Great, but I prefer...
These are high quality, visually striking glasses that work well for Bordeaux blends and Cabernet based wine. They also serve very well for Syrah and other big, bold tannic varietals. I've found them very effective for really high quality Chardonnay as well. I have done very well blind tasting from these. The rim is nice and thin. That being said, if you want some general purpose red wine glasses I prefer Riedel Vinum Syrah glasses. They are my absolute favourite red wine glasses that show the qualities of all red wines perfectly - at least to my palate.Just a note: when I was buying these 2x2 packs are cheaper than one four pack but, especially now I've put it in this review, someone at Amazon is bound to notice that little cheaper glasses-wheeze soon enough!

Stylish, robust, a bit basic
I choose wine glasses primarily on the shape - I haven't yet found my perfect champagne tulip, but these looked good. And they are fine; the upside is they feel tough, are dishwasher safe, and very cheap compared to most other Riedel glasses. However this comes at a cost - the glass is thicker, especially the base, and the stem and bowl are two parts welded together, so there is a noticeable join rather than a smooth finish from top to bottom. Good if you're serving to clumsier guests or people who'd be daunted by the finest paper-thin crystal, but not delicate enough for serving the best wines in. A great starter glass, albeit quite small by modern standards.
