I do not normally write reviews but I have seen so many people complain about inaccuracy. I am fairly new to candle making and in all the videos I watched about melting point and pouring fragrance oil at the right temp to get maximum hot throw, not one video explained that you need to calibrate your thermometer. When I used this, it would not go past 160F. Soooooo, I did what any genius would do and found some YouTube videos and learned about calibration. LOL! Here is what you need to do with this thermometer in particular. If you look under the bottom, there is a little nut and that is what you need to set to calibrate your thermometer. Ice water should be at 32F (0 Celsius) and boiling water 212F. I tested mine in ice water first and it was reading 60F which I knew was wrong. I used a wrench and turned the dial back to 32F. Then to make sure that worked, I boiled some water and inserted and the dial moved to 212F!!!!! What a freaking relief. Try it and thank me later.
