This device is to prevent or minimise motion in the cervical spine. It keeps the head in a comfortable gravity-aligned position to obtain a normal cervical lordosis. The head is held high on the shoulders and the ears are directly over each shoulder. It restores and maintains a natural proper physiological cervical curve. It gives your neck firm support but is softly padded where it touches your neck. It's also ventilated to release heat for maximal comfort. It is height adjustable with a simple dial height adjustment technology to find your most comfortable position. It’s specially designed to do a powerful traction via hand pump, to protect your neck. The traction belt is consisted of many pieces of air tube, when pumping; each air tube will become inflated and strong enough to stretch cervical vertebrae. Compared to Soft Collar Soft Collar including inflated cushion collar pulls head up and away from the neck in linear direction that causes a straight neck and loss of natural proper cervical curve. Besides, it doesn’t truly immobilize the neck, it only limits flexion and extension in the end phase. Soft collars also tightly encircle the neck and the felt has little breathing possibilities, so it’s possible that the patient sweats underneath the collar. Another disadvantage is that they can apply a bit too much pressure on your TMJ. Indications for Use Suited for Neck of max 25.6’’. Neck pain, caused by an acute trauma or chronic neck pain. Herniated cervical disc Cervical spondylosis RA and OA cervical spine Increase vertebral clearance and intervertebral foramen, reduce or even remove nerve root of stimulation and oppression. Limit cervical activity, reduce compressed spinal cord and nerve root of the repeated friction and bad stimulation. Relieve muscle spasm, restore the balance of the cervical spine, improve the blood supply of vertebral artery.

modifying my initial rating and telling you why you might want to give this a shot despit it's one big flaw
When I first got this I thought it was fantastic compared to the other brand I bought here for fifteen dollars less....twice because it broke 2 times after two weeks each , and then I spent a good part of the second day trying to secure the padding here in the hospital without any tools (yes, I had to buy a collar because I have government health care and it's pretty worthless). The problem is that even though everything else about the build is very high quality, the adhesive that's used to hold the Velcro seem to be the same stuff that they use to temporarily hold your new credit cards to the letter they come with....yes, that lame. I'm hoping that I can fix it when I get home with some Barge Cement or something similar. All of that aside, the traction mechanisms work very well for me and when not using those (the majority of the time if you follow the badly written instructions) the collar is very good at stabilizing the neck and keeping you from inflaming the nerve. If not for the bad job with the Velcro I might have given it a 5 star but definitely a 4 star rating.....so far.April 5, 2017: I have been playing with and using the collar and have to say that this thing really works on my herniated discs! The only trouble is keeping the padding centered so your neck. here's how I'm slowly fixing it. Note this will probably make it impossible to return it if you fail to modify it so it works for you. First take the velcro off of the padding (all of the initial "factory" adhesive failed within days, so that's most likely where they'll be). remove any adhesive that accidentally stuck (it really does suck at it's job). Get some 150 grit sandpaper and roughen up the smooth side of the Velcro where the glue was supposed to be. Roughen up the corresponding spot on the plastic of the collar. Use an adhesive that stays flexible to apply glue to both of the spots that were roughened up. I used Barge cement, but shoe goo or even possible tile and tub RTV would probably work. Whatever you use, test it on one first, just in case. follow the instructions for letting it dry and then test it by putting the padding off and on a few times. It shouldn't come off and should be permanent now so I hope it works as well for you as it does for me. I wouldn't have been able to type this without it.I would have given this 5 stars if they had not use the crappiest glue I have ever seen for an application like this. some may want to know what my qualifications are for recommending this repair? IT"S CALLED COMMON SENSE which whoever decided to use this adhesive doesn't have a bit of. I also worked in the aerospace industry for 26 years and was certified to use adhesives on any hardware you can name including the space shuttle, the International Space Station, etc, etc, etc.I'll update my review again if my fix fails......but I have never seen anything bonded down like this fail. PS. A 2 ounce tube of Barge cement is around $10 or so. DON'T use anything rigid for an adhesive. It won't hold as well.

Not "fully adjustable" as advertised (which is the only reason I went with this particular model). There is a min & max chin-to-chest setting and whatever the min is, its too big for me.

Very satisfied
I have a ruptured disk in my neck and bought this for traction therapy. It does work very well for that, after a few uses it made a noticeable difference . I did find just for comfort I used a few washcloths for additional padding.
