Very economical. Works great!
Dark brown to ash blonde in a week- little damage! The large amount of product is necessary for a big project like this. Very economical! Smells fine! use a mini whisk for easy mixing. The only down side is the blue hides the results a bit and you may be inclined to wash off sooner than you should because it masks the results. Not sure if I am brave or a fool for dying my hair myself. All colorist I consulted said it couldn't be done for the summer and would fry my hair. This is how I did it and the products I used and the knowledge I gained. How I did it:1. Day 1:Started with dark hair, natural color but used boxed dye every month to cover a few grays( color a 2 on the color scale)2. Day 1: 30 min Bleach bath- lightened 1 to 2 shades( resulting color 3)3. Day 1:Foils with L’Oreal Quick Blue, 30 developer, Oleplex 1- lightened 3 shades, left on for 45 min( results 6 on the color scale)4. Day 2: 30 min Bleach bath- lightened 1 to 2 shades (resulting color 8)5. Day 3: Foils with L’Oréal Quick Blue, 30 developer, Oleplex 1, left on for 45 min- lightened 3 shades( results 10 on the color scale)6. Day 4: color correction(reds and yellows) with a homemade color correction concoction created by mixing Olaplex 2, Color filler and Ardle red and gold corrector drops( they are purple). Put this mixture on and left it on for 3 hours. Results: Ash color. Then toned it with Wella T-18 left on for 20 minutes. Very happy with the results. I have no hair loss or damageProducts:1. Neutral Color Filler 16oz2. Olaplex 1, 2 and 33. Aquaphor4. L’Oréal quick Blue Powder5. Ardel Color correcting drops red gold corrector6. Wella Color Charm Liquid Toner T-187. L’Oréal 30 Volume developer8. Pure organic Coconut Oil9. DIY Hair Dye kitKnowledge needed:1. Know the hair color wheela. You can only lift hair about 3 to 4 shades in one bleaching sessionb. Know the opposite colors to tone out unwanted shades2. Understand the components of damaged hair and how to correct ita. Is your hair dry or devoid of fillers( protein and Keratin) This is vital to the treatments you will make to the damage you do. Too much protein, your hair will break3. Know how to test your hair for damage before you begin and test it after every process4. Understand “hot roots” and avoid them5. Know the difference between Toner and dye6. Understand that you can further damage your hair with protein fillers as they can make the hair brittle which will cause breakage, however protein filler can be a miracle cure for hair that won’t take color, or grabs color unevenly. Balance with moisture treatments .7. Know which oils can penetrate the hair shaft and add moisture and know which ones add moisture and deposits proteins. Coconut oil is awesome for hair but also deposits proteins so be careful if your hair is brittle and breaking. Good moisture adding/non-protein depositing oils are Caster, Jojoba, Moroccan, argon8. Know how to do a ‘bleach bath’ ( equal parts shampoo, bleach, developer and 1/8th oz. of Olapex 1 per 3 OZ of bleach bath)9. Bleach on Oily hair. Don’t wash your hair, alternatively sleep in a coconut mask and then bleach your hair with the coconut oil on. It protects your scalp and the oil and protein from the oil fortifies hair during bleaching. The oil will not affect the bleaching process10. Use a protein filler after you have bleached out your color, before you tone or dye. It helps the color pick up evenly and leaves hair shinny11. Use Aquaphor on all exposed skin including forearms*****If you find this review helpful please indicate on the review so I know all this detail helps people.

works great, but messed up packaging
Okay, so I initially really wary of buying this, mostly because of the price and I'd been using box dyes to bleach my hair for awhile before this. This coupled with developer definitely adds up, but I gotta say, it's worth it!I like to dye my hair pink, and I was working up to a light blond color using blond box dyes. And the roots started to grow in, so I figured that I might as well try this during the summer, since people really like it and if it's a total disaster, then no one will see me while I fix it. But it worked really, really well! It got my dark roots to a pale, perfect yellow! I was surprised, but this stuff works really well. Also this and 40 volume developer may end up being about 30 bucks or so, but I think you'll actually end up saving money! My hair is still pretty short cause I'm growing it out from a pixie, but you'll probably only need a scoop or so to get just the roots done. It spread very easily and nicely. It obviously smells a bit, but you have to expect that. Nothing horrible though, you'll make it through. It's very tingly and kinda rough on your scalp, so be sure to condition after!PACKAGING:It came very quickly! But the actual bleach bag was pretty bad. Other reviewers said they got the big bucket with three little packets, but I got one weird looking bag with the side ripped apart. It was sort of a mess, with some the bleach in the bag, and A LOT outside it. I don't really know how that could have happened, and there was some bleach powder on the outside of the container. It definitely wasn't packaged that well. And there was like a strand of blond hair in the container. I'm pretty sure it wasn't mine, hopefully it was, but it was there right when I opened it and before I started anything.Overall this is a really good product and I can't wait to tell everyone about it. I always complain about my hair, so I'm happy I found this product! It doesn't come with gloves, but you should try it out!

Product works well but product amount is ridiculous
It works well. I have jet black hair and after applying it once, it managed to turn it brass color. Had to put on another coat to get the desired color I want. I minused a star because of the ridiculous price for the small amount you get. $34 for a bag that doesn't fill even half the bucket! On my second coat, I was already 3/4 through the bag. Took more than 6 whole miniature scoops to finish the bleach job. Other than that, i'm satisfied.
