TADO°, Makes Your air Conditioner Smart

The idea is great and when it works, it is fantastic. Setup was easy, but Tado failed to recognise my air con has fan speeds.The reason for the poor review is that the device regularly fails to respond to touches or is very slow. Sometimes you can tap several times and nothing will happen and then the unit will rapidly spin round the menu system like it is trying to catch up.Shame the unit requires a USB cable rather than using batteries like Tado’s other kit.Possibly a faulty unit so returning to Amazon for a replacement.UPDATE: V1 vs V2While returning the V1 unit I decided to upgrade to a V2 in the hope that the touch interface might have been improved, so got the chance to try them out side by side for a few days.The two units are absolutely indentical.They have the same part number and behave in exactly the same way. So maybe the software is different? Nope, not a jot of difference I can spot here either.To quote Tado on Twitter (9th May 2018) responding to Jake asking "what is the difference to the V1 hardware?"..."The Smart AC Control V2 has: -Smart Climate Assistant (geofencing, weather adaptation, smart schedule) - Energy Savings Report - 100 Days Energy Savings Guarantee (ESG) - Thermostatic Control - Climate Report in Mobile App - New and improved installation (faster and easier)"... well yes V2 does have all the above, but comparing them side by side, so does the V1. Installation was identical. More baffling, I can't find anything around weather adaptaion on either version. The V2 does come with the Engery savings guarantee.So there you have it, £30 extra for an energy savings guarantee.Also, buried deep on the tado website, they advise NOT to touch the device as it is powering up as it interferes with calibration. Can't say I've noticed any differernce. However, touching with two fingers rather than one seems to work better.I'd love to hear from Tado on what the difference really is.

Meraviglioso, cioè, diamo a Cesare quel che è di Cesare...premessa: ne ho presi due in offerta per il Black Friday, un po' titubante per commenti contrastanti, ma non ci ho pensato più di tanto.Per iniziare se viene usato come semplice telecomando remoto e non in modalità termostatica intelligente in congiunzione con la geolocalizzazione, state sprecando la genialità di questo prodotto oltre l'immaginabile.Vivo in affitto da anni e non ho altre fonti di riscaldamento se non gli split, vecchiotti, sconosciuti, cheap e forse anche un pelo sottodimensionati. Per lavoro la casa rimane per lo più disabitata per la maggior parte del tempo della giornata e gli orari di rientro son sempre irregolari con scarti di svariate ore. Sempre avuto il problema che tornando e accendendo gli split si stava al freddo per un bel po' e quando si iniziava ad acclimatarsi era ora di andare a letto, idem la mattina ci si alzava al freddo e quando si iniziava a star bene>ora di uscire.Col timer si sprecava solo corrente perché si impostava e poi non tornando si scaldava una casa vuota e di mattina nella fretta te li scordavi accesi, magari per dodici ore di fila.Poi settimana scorsa è arrivato Tado, non scherzo ,ieri ho cestinato tutti i telecomandi tranne uno per sicurezza, che non si sa mai.Ci ho messo una mezz'oretta per configurare, capire il sistema e familiarizzare con l'app.Ovviamente i miei split non erano in elenco, bon ne ho scelto una marca a caso dalla lista con gli stessi codici del telecomando universale che già avevo. Poi per curiosità ho provato anche l'autoapprendimento, e funzionava uguale.Ho impostato le varie temperature per fasce orarie come se fossi sempre a casa, e impostato la geolocalizzazione con raggio massimo(tre chilometri) e la temperatura away abbastanza bassa in modo da non attivarsi a meno che non faccia un freddo boia, ah si anche settato l'off-set di attivazione/spegnimento a mezzo grado sotto e mezzo grado sopra la temperatura ideale, ma era già così di default.IMPOSTATO e DIMENTICATO, non ho più toccato nulla.Sono rinato, mi alzo e la casa è già calda, vado a lavoro fregandomene e si spengono mentre sono nel traffico, rientrando mentre sono ancora in coda in macchina ai semafori, si riattivano e arrivo a qualsiasi ora trovando la casa già perfetta.Fa TUTTO da solo.Se miracolosamente rimango a casa, si sta bene tutto il tempo e non devo fare assolutamente nulla.Dai grafici staranno accesi, se va male, la metà del tempo in cui erano in funzione prima :D!Miglior acquisto dell'anno!Esteticamente sono piccoli,eleganti e di classe e alla fine li ho messi bene in vista anche perché si abbinano benissimo allo stile moderno dell'arredamento, anzi ho sentito l'assistenza per chiedere se prima o poi mi inseriscono l'opzione per tenere il display always-on, perché è veramente carino.Inseriti in ambiente Google home, senza problemi, ogni tanto chiedo la temperatura o umidità più per curiosità che altro.E a lavoro i colleghi continuano a chiedere al mio telefono la temperatura delle varie stanze a casa mia ahahPer chi si lamenta giù della rilevazione temperatura non precisa, io non ho problemi, ma ovviamente dall'app si può tarare il sensore se la rilevazione non dovesse essere corretta.Potrei dire che lo consiglierei, ma non ce n'è bisogno. Chiunque sia passato a casa ultimamente, dopo attimi di stupore, sta valutando l'acquisto.Per quanto mi riguarda, ho un terzo split nello studio, che uso rarissimamente, ma prenderò un Tado anche per quello, perché mi ci trovo bene e ormai ci son abituato.

If you're a fan of the Tado devices, you'll find this one a slight disappointment. It requires power, has no built in battery so that limits the flexibility and positioning unlike the other devices. Functionality-wise it operates well, controlling the temperature well with the usual geo-fencing etc. It can also use your a/c to heat as well as cool (if your a/c unit supports that). Overall I think it's an overpriced, slightly less flexible device but a somewhat worthy addition. I don't understand why it couldn't have used batteries though hence the lower rating.

Disappointingly the setup was horrendous beyond words. During the learning phase the app constantly reported ‘No Signal detected’ and for some reason On/Off is back to front (I assume that’s my error however). Range appears to be exceptionally limited and after 25 minutes on hold for support, I gave up. Unfortunately similar competing units seem to be of the same standard. Going to try again at which stage I’ll return unless things pick up.Edit: Return arranged. Nightmare.

very friendly app!you need to carefully perform the setup.I have placed the device at a location that it has "direct" visibility with two air condition units , and I am managing a greater portion of the office with the device.It works impeccably!
