Llama Llama Mad at Mama

I thought this book was cute and my granddaughter really loves the Llama Llama books. She has not seen or read it yet because it is supposed to be an Easter gift.

Can't help but to fall in love with this naughty llama, the illustrations are hysterical!

My son picked this one out. Of course he thought the title was so funny. He had to find out why llama llama was made at momma. The storyline kept him interested and we kept the conversation going even after the story ended.

my 20 months old granddaughter instantly loves the book while being read. she enjoys the rhyming reading. she particularly loves the mirror at the last page of the book. we read to her countless times upon opening the book and expect to continue the the pleasure more. excellent arrangement and wonderful book!!

I feel a little special because I didn't realize I was ordering the hardback...I should have read what was on the screen. (duh!) I was very happy to see that it is the hardback!I got this book for my 10 month old daughter as a Christmas gift since she loves when I read her Llama Lama Red Pajama during our bedtime routine. I haven't read it to her yet because I want to wait until Christmas, but I did read it to see if I liked it.This story is a little longer than Llama Llama Red Pajama and has more words on the pages. I think this is more for a little older child than my 10 month old, but she'll grow into it, right?As for the actual storyline...I'm not sure how I feel about it. It shows spending a day shopping from Llama Llama's perspective and how frustrating it is for him. Eventually he ends up having a temper tantrum where he starts throwing the things in the cart and makes a huge mess. His understanding mother then apologizes for making him feel so miserable and starts to include him in the shopping experience and in the end they get ice cream... Sounds like a good story, but the parts where Little Llama are included in the shopping are so brief that it almost seems like he gets ice cream for having a major public melt down. Like he is being rewarded for the bad behavior... This is why I'm not sure if I completely like the story.I do like that the mother takes the time to understand what is upsetting Llama Llama, but I just don't like how the parts where he helps her shop and redeems himself are so condensed.Everyone is a critic, right? This is just my personal opinion, maybe yours will be different.

We love the llama llama books and were happy to add this one to our collection! Before purchasing I read the reviews and observed many people were not pleased with mama llama's parenting style. Yes llama llama throws a big fit at the store. But mama llama talks to him and reminds him that she doesn't enjoy shopping either but it is simply something they must do. Then llama llama helps clean up the mess he made and at the end they get ice cream because llama llama was a helper during the shopping trip. I didn't see this as rewarding bag behavior as llama was rewarded for being a helper and righting his wrongs. I also saw some people felt mama llama was shaming baby llama. I didn't feel this was the case. Mama llama told baby llama to stop his giant tantrum. I would do the same if my child threw a giant tantrum at the store. For our parenting style this book is perfect and fun to read with our three year old.

My son loves to read and absolutely loves the lama lama series!

Nice book to read. the whole text tells the story with rhymes. the story is about a baby llama getting really upset with his mama because she has taken him out shopping all day and he is tired of it (trying on clothes, picking out groceries...) and he throws a huge tantrum, throws stuff out of the cart, and then mama explains to him that she doesn't like shopping either, but she is so glad he is there with her, so the shopping trip turns out to be something they can accomplish as a team.great topic for toddlers.

My three year old loves these stories. I got this thinking it was something new only to find out it's the same story as llama llama shopping drama. Good thing we need books at grandmas!

As with all the Llama Llama books, this is a very relatable experience for young children and provides a great opportunity for sharing and explaining while also enjoying the story. We love the Llama Llama books!

Little one identifies with llama llama on all our grocery runs!
