MY best cheese grater.
My cheese grater is 100 % what I wanted ,and I am so glad for it. First there was problem with cleaning it then I found out how I could take it apart to clean it......I hope it vas supposed to been taken apart....ups, well I could put it togeather again and it works so everything is fine . The only problem is it is so nice and easy to use it , that I eat to much cheese now.....hihihih.Hi from DK.

Absolutely useless
I bought the more expensive metal cheese grater because my previous plastic one broke after a few years. This one broke after 2 months! It wasn't assembled properly when I first got it but I managed to re-assemble it and make it work ok. But after about 3 more uses it didn't grate any parmigiano cheese, then jammed as I squeezed harder and finally the crank broke off knocking my glass of red wine all over the table cloth and my trousers. I had to throw it in the bin, but I'm now out of pocket 3 times what I paid for it because of the damages.

Not as good as expected.
Bought this product to replace my old plastic one. It looked good and solid but is hard to turn when grating hard cheese. and a pig to clean

Perfect!
Does the job and does it well; reminds me of when I used to run a restaurant!Easy to clean, just slip the sliding grip off and give it a scrub. Also has a non-spill cap for transporting and storing.EDIT: 4 years this thing lasted me. First the metal pull tab on the front broke off after about 2 years (it's barely secured) then the grater dulled. Keeping 5 stars up however as I used it at least twice a week since purchase.

Great design, but dimensions and how it doesn't disassemble all parts make it difficult to clean
Great design, but dimensions and how it doesn't disassemble all parts make it difficult to cleanThe positives, is, right size for your hand, and chees goes into an area and you easily press against grater to grate chees, which comes down. But the grater to the internal walls, has a gap too big, which means some of your parmesan will lodge there between those walls and the grater, ungrated and a waste.when it's time to wash it, no parts come off, except for the lever, and lever doesn't even get dirty.if you wash with detergent, some of that "soapy" taste will be there in next use, so even if it does grate cheese well, after second use it became unusable and i binned it :(

Temperamental Italian genius!
I have just ordered two more of these, one as spare (in case it's discontinued as so many good gadgets are nowadays) and one as a gift. My original one is now eight years old and still going strong. I bought it in Germany where they were all the rage at the time and like some reviewers thought it was a bit gimmicky and rather fiddly. But after being initiated into the secrets of how to use, disassemble, clean and reassemble it, it was plain sailing. The keys to succesful use are:1) Don't put anything but HARD cheese in it, i.e. parmegiano, padano, pecorino, etc. If you use soft cheese (even cheddar) it will clog up. So 'hard cheese' to you!2) Don't but small pieces of cheese in it. Use a decent oblong that fits the cheese compartment, but not TOO snugly.3) If the handle becomes stiff when turning, 'jiggle' the sliding compartment until it moves freely. Otherwise it may clog.4) Disassemble it after heavy use and disassemble it any case after a few days. If you leave it the fridge for a week with cheese in it you're asking for trouble.5) Taking it apart is easy if you follow the instructions on the 'tin'. Just get a firm grip on the outer tube with one hand and firmly but gently pull the top and handle off in a straight, upward movement. You won't break it, it's pretty tough. Mine has been cleaned hundreds of times.6) Wash it thoroughly in HOT, soapy water. Rinse well and leave to dry overnight. To speed up drying put in on a radiator or in the your top oven at 70-100 degrees C.7) Putting it back together is easy if you fit the inner grater tube first and secure the bottom of it with the hinged base lid. Then place it on a flat level surface and press the top and handle firmly back into place.8) Finally, yes it is a bit quirky and temperamental. It's Italian, what do you expect?!9) Enjoy!10) The only reason haven't given it five stars is because it isn't the easiest gadget to use. You need to love it. Did I mention it's Italian? There you go then... ;-)

Not so good.
A reasonable quality brand, but unfortunately using it for the second time the unit did not work correctly. Despite it's basic construction the grater would not stay fixed to its location while in use. In addition it was purchased to turn parmesan into a powder texture. We were unable to achieve this. Its now in the bin!
