These will save your ski boots and make them safer

The media could not be loaded. not only is walking in ski boots in a muddy parking lot a misery, but it can damage the bottom of your skiboots, such that they may not release from your bindings if the skid plate is really scratched up. This product makes it a pleasure to walk any distance in ski boots. They allow your boots to roll so your gate is much more natural and not labored. Plus they protect your boots from the mud and grime. They fit in your pocket to you can simply put them back on at the end of the day, for your walk back to the car. If you have to walk in a ski area parking lot with any regularity, these are a must have.

Worth every penny

I had purchased a set of boots that retailed for $600, and I knew that my other "casual" ski boots had been so chewed up from the stone parking lots and concrete that I needed something to protect my good ones from the same fate. Even if I was walking on a snow-covered lot, I could still feel stones grinding on the bottoms of the boots. I had seen others with these on, and wondered if they would be worth it.Be sure to read the mondo and mm size of your boots and compare against their chart for ordering the correct size. When I received them, they appeared to be quite rugged and made with durable rubber. They are a snug fit for my 28.5's, but that will help keep them on. What some other reviewers might not realize is that you need to have the rubber cup on each end of the Trax completely over the binding lug on the boot so they don't come off. That is the only difficult part of their use. These make walking in ski boots more comfortable, and almost provide a feeling like you're rolling your foot just as you would in a normal shoe. They absorb shock and provide traction on ice and terrain. When not in use, they fold in half and stow easily in cargo pockets and are lightweight. For the benefits they provide, I would have no qualms about buying these again.

Works very well for walking in ski boots

They work really well for walking in ski boots. I was able to walk more normally in these vs like a robot without them.Another advantage of the product is that they isolated the bottom of my ski boots to the ground eliminating the excessive wear and tear while walking to and from the parking lot. However, I do have some reservations regarding its longevity though. The material is not very elastic and with enough use they will eventually snap in the middle, which is the thinnest part. It’s a decent product for the price. Just make sure you buy it based on the measurements rather than the generalized size (s/m/l).

Very Helpful.

I learned of these from a fellow snow-skiing individual. I'd never seen them previously. They definitely protect my "Ski Boots' soles," especially when walking on cement, asphalt, macadam, as well as similar "more tough than my Ski Boots' soles, especially the heels." However be careful not to twist them as the front/rear portions are connected, yet not perfectly. If I accidentally "twist" them (front to rear sole portions; as when placing them into my Ski Jacket's pockets), I've noticed a bit of a "small rip" developing in the front/rear soles' connection's "rubberized plastic?" Yet I'd always recommend them so as to protect my Ski Boots' front/rear soles from "unnecessary wear" as I walk to the slopes from my vehicle. However they're much less expensive to replace than my "much more expensive" Ski Boots; even much less expensive than "repairing" my Ski Boots' soles. TY!

Horrible quality SKITRAX required repair before using

The RIGHT Trax was OK and snugly fitted my 344 mm. boot using water to help slip the heel piece on. However, the LEFT Trax had cracks in the center of the connector section where the section was sharply folded in the package. Surprisingly the cracks were on the inside of the bend, not the outside. Upon attempting to put the LEFT Trax on the boot, the Trax tore where the cracks were located. Others have reported failures of the center section. However, since I could not obtain a "CAT TRACKS" model large enough for my boot, I repaired the Left Trax instead of sending it back. My method used neoprene/nylon/neoprene laminated crampon strap and two brass grommets. The crampon strap was 38 year old material originally from Seattle Manufacturing Corp. (SMC) in 1978 for SMC crampons; the strap material is still in perfect condition. The 1/4" diameter grommets were from a 38 year old size O (or 0?) "Handi Grommet Kit" by Lord & Hodge Inc., Middletown, CT. I bored a 1/4 inch hole in both the front and rear pieces of the Trax using a soldering iron, not a drill, with the hole centers about 1 inch from the flat bottom sections. I then used a cork borer to make two 1/4" holes near the ends of the 3.5" long neoprene nylon strap with a distance of 2 and 5/8" between hole centers. After smoothing the holes in the Trax pieces with the soldering iron and thinning the bottoms of the Trax pieces by the holes with the iron to accommodate the male part of the 1/4" brass grommets, I was able to pound on the washer parts with a hammer. This tedious process required 2.8 hours. See the photo for the result. The Chinese-made Trax is of very poor quality, probably a carbon-filled plasticized vinyl or even natural rubber, not a good quality polyurethane; vinyls and rubber have very poor tear strength and tensile strength compared to urethanes; I am a retired polymer chemist so know the wrong type of elastomer was chosen to make these. I do not recommend this product to anyone since the 90 day warranty is terrible for a product which should last at least for 5 or 10 years. Also, the silvery stuff bag is NOT waterproof as it should be, since wet snow will leak into a day pack used to stow these; a ZIP lock baggie should be used inside the stuff bag. All these Trax should be stored in a flat, not folded, condition to prevent future cracking of the center sections. Also do NOT store the Trax mounted on boots to prevent cracking.
